i am so happy about having this 1979' f250 truck but hey another problem arises ...it seems that the window washer fluid holder is leakin pretty badly and i was wonderin how to fix it or what to fix it with...i am 17 and i am enjoyin my new truck but it is 20 yrs old so it comes with a little wear!!! thanks a million!!
Well it's good to know there is some 17 yr olds that like old fords and not just rice burners with nintendos. If the cracks are not too bad you could use an epoxy sealant that are sold at parts sores. If the one you have is too far gone you might look around at the local salvage yards but I never found a good one there, most were just like the I already had. Most parts stores sale an aftermarket kit that you can adapt to your truck without too much hassle. If you look closely at the directions you can probably use your old wiring and fluid lines.Make sure you clean the old lines, they are prone to clogging up if not used frequently.Good luck!
hey yeah i hear ya keep them old beasts on the road. I'd say if ur windsheild washer works u already got a gem. the aftermarket kits work good sometimes, but i've also seen the hose cleaners break old rotted lines so u might want to check them first, there isnt a lot of pretture in the holding tank so simple meathods could work on small cracks, ex. duck tape,.
I'd check the store here online first if you're planning on buying one.
And I got my first truck at age 14...69 Ranger, went through many ordeals with it and gave it up for a 84 Ford Ranger when I was 17. Now my brother has that old 69 and I have a 67 a 68 and a 72 parts wagon. As well as 81 F150 and 76 Ford Van and 68 Galaxie. I think I have an addiction or something. Oh well, they keep me busy. Oh and I'm just 24. Laters.
I rigged up a washer setup when I had my '85.
I used an inline pump and made a hole in the lid of the jug that the washer antifreeze came in. push the hose in through the top of the jug, found a place where the jug would stand up and stay. (on my '85 it was next to the master cylinder)
when you need a refill, just swap the jug, no mess no spilling. I always planned to fix that right, but I sold the truck before i got around to it.
Right now i'm thinking about doing a similar setup in my '70 using a stainless steel jug holder made for mounting gallon jugs of cleaning chemicals. Its a PITA trying to splash cleaner on the windshield out the side window..
