The front driveshaft is still spinning as it is connected directly to the front diff. Just no power going to it thru the t-case. I know it's not the optimal way of driving but I hear people say that you should not drive like this as it will harm something. I just don't know why.

Yea I here ya, Maybe because when the front spline shaft is spinning (but not connected) it would not have as much lubrication or cooling because the ring gear is not turning from being connected to the drive shaft-t.case. This causing less diff.gear oil to be churning, thus lubbing up the axle shaft inside the diff. case? Or just not being connect or driven by the engagement of the T.case /drveshaft spinning.? Or is the axle shaft always connect to the ring gear anyhow inside the diff.?
