i have had many bronco's & never had a heater problem i couldn't fix, but my wife has a 90 mercury grand marquis that has a new thermostat, water pump, & rad cap. i have flushed rad, block, & heater core & have good flow thew them all. i have check for air pockets & put a piece of card board in front of the rad but still can't get any heat !!! i know this really isn't the place to post this but no one has been able to help me & i am at wits end ! any help would be greatly appreciated !!!
Blend door adjustment or temp adjustment working correctly? Usually that is the cause of too much heat but maybe something is keeping the door from opening? That is all I can think of you did not mention.
Did you have heat before the flush job? There could still be a big air bubble in the heater core.I have had no luck with flushing a heater core, either they end up plugged again or they leak after. So now if I have a problem with it,replacement seems for me the cheapest route at the end of the day.I think that flushing(which should be done!)loosens up some really tiny particles that stick in the heater core.
Before flushing the system i had the lower rad hose blow due to being old & wore out it was the only original hose left on the car & it blew go figure. lol Before the hose blew i had some heat but not alot, now all i can get is a little luke warm heat not even enough to defrost the windshield. I checked the temp adjuster in the dash & everything seemed to be ok there. Done know about the blend door i can see it. The blend door that uses inside air for the air conditioner is opening fine so i tried running air conditioner with temp adjuster on hot but still no difference. Thanks for help & ideas! Any more thoughts would be greatly appreciated !!!
BB, could possible be your thermostat is the wrong temperture rating. In my 1985 f-150 i had a similar problem, with a 160degree thermo in it no heat, after the change back to the (197 i think it is) gave me ample heat Hope this helps TR
