i been having trans problems when i floor the truck (1996 psd cc) the trans won't kick dwn and some times it will. so i had a friend that builds some bad *** trans. he put his scanner on the truck and their was no codes but found out the tps senor at full throttle only put out 3.84 volts and wot throttle is suposse to be 4.5 vots can i adjust it or do i have to buy a new one that ford says i have to buy the whole pedal assembly for $208.00.
You cannot buy the TPS seperately, but you can adjust the one you have. You'll need to remove the pedal and remove the tps and elongate the mount holes on the switch so that the switch can be rotated slightly when reinstalled.
cookie is spot on. I did that hot pedal mod on my 96. I just pulled the TPS off the pedal and "wallered" out the holes to index it a little further. I also adjusted the IVS to a hair trigger. I think I got the instructions on steve baz's page.
