I have a 2002 F-250 SD. The inside lever for the hood seems to be "weakening". In other words, it used to release the hood hook better than it does now. Now, after I pull the inside lever to release the hood, I have to then wedge my fingers b/t the hood and the top of the grill just to create a gap b/t the two so I can manually move the hood latch and open the hood. Seems like it used to pop up further and give me more of a gap to get my fingers in there and slide the hood hook.
Any ideas, thoughts, comments, suggestions? Anyone else with similar problem? Is the hood latch mechanism dipping and needs to be reset up higher? Grabbing at straws here...
Thanks all !
Daryl

You guys need to spend more time with your wives rather than be under the hood all the time! Did I say that?
Lubrication ,first a shot of wd-40 ,then a shot of lubriplate grease or white lithium.I mean soak the whole latch mechanism.

Hummm Rich, more time with the wife, good idea, if you can catch her or she not having a headache!, not gonna happen back to the truck, Soaking latch good idea, but can't get at it to soak it, any ideas how to open the hood? Mike
Its 2 bolts and disconnect the latch cable. this after getting the hood open!
Mark its location first.
If your truck has been in a front end accident. It might not have been adjusted correctly.
I mean its a latch it needs to be lubricated and adjusted correctly.

Had the same problem with my 2004 CC SD. When I first brought the truck home, the hood would not raise. Trip to the dealer fixed it. Happened again about six months ago, so back to the dealer again. Agravating , but least the dealer fixes it.
Same here on my '02 350 SD CC....pull the hood release handle and no feedback whatsoever that it works. Have to pull the hood up to get to the second latch. Up until now, figured it to be normal operation.
