I get this noise when i drive my truck now, it started last summer. I recently changed the throttle body gasket that was sucked in, so it runs better but still pings a little now and then sometimes not at all. But now when i accelerate, but not flooring it it has this high pitched whine to it, kind of like a constant high pitched whistling or ringing noise, hard to describe. The pcv valve is ok. When you let off the gas, the whine rattles and starts to fade away into a light rattle, the whine doesnt sound bad, the truck has always had that whining noise to it, but its louder and sounds a little different. I'm wondering if that whine to rattle noise is just associated with timing or the knock sensor. Or is something way more serious? Thanks eh.
No at idle its fine, no whining noise, valve noise sounds a bit like a sewing machine but thats it, slight miss, and the rpm bounces from high to low slightly. It runs fairly smooth in neutral no shakes or knocks. In drive, almost sounds like, you know when you put your finger on a crystal glass, just a faint sound like that especially when your picking up speed. Its really high pitched. Sound of motor normal "buzz" with that high pitched whine in the background. It really starts to go when you take it out of overdrive and drive steady like that for a while. At really light throttle, the whine is more of a very faint rattle, more throttle-more whine, From a little to WOT, you dont hear it at all. I wonder if the rattle is just pinging and that whine had something to do with it. Sometimes you can hear just a faint little rattle before it finally dissapears. Just cant figure it out. Weird eh?

I hope its elsewhere. It starts up as a rattle, but whetever it is the rattle turns into a whine as it picks up rpm. no what i mean? So im hoping its the airpump, altenator or something, i can live with that. Or im thinking the rattle is actually park throttle ping from a leaned out mixture caused by a vaccum leak. And as vaccum increases you hear it more, but at WOT you dont hear it, there is no vacuum right? It is more pronounced under load, even when taking off after 3 minutes of starting up. So i could disregard the ping because the temp hasnt even reached N on NORMAL. I dont know either, ill have to check it out when it warms up a little.
