Guess I should introduce myself. I live in Columbia, MO, am the single mom of a son who is a Marine. He is currently stationed out in CA, but will be deployed later this year. Proud owner of a somewhat moody 82 F100, 300-6, 2wd. Other vehicle is Honda, so switching back and forth keeps me on my toes.
Seems like a nice bunch of people here. Hope to meet some of you in person someday.
well welcome to the forum! you gotta bring your 97 to the next get togeather so we can compaire notes, my grandpa has one that we're constantly workin on, today the back passanger brake started dragging, and now we think the 4x4 is engaging and disengaging at random, IE sudden strange jerks on highway....
if you need anywork done you definately need to give ches a call, he's a great guy and i work for him on the longer/harder jobs, so any cash in his pocket is as good as mine lol sorry ches!
both of my trux are here at the theater 2004 and 1997. i am getting ready to start doing some work on the 97 so i can get it ready for towing my act and i want it looking cool with my logo on it and the trailer. i need to tune it up right now. i have the plugs. ever changed them out before?
yep, i got my tool box back in the prop shop where i build props. prob take at least an hour from what my research has told me. when you at our theater?
Since this is a chat thread..ok to ask a few general "ford truck" questions?
Hope so.
First of all...this is not my truck. It belongs to the son of the woman I am dating. I am hoping that someday he will be my step-son (shhhh!)
I have not ridden in it yet, but maybe you guys can head me in the right direction for some things to start looking at when the two of us can get together about it.
Its a 93 F-150. It has a big inline 6 (I assume the 300). It has an automatic OD transmission (door code "E").
He is the second owner. Everything under the hood appears to be original..so do not think the engine or transmission has been changed.
First..can anyone identify which transmission this is? Is it one of the electronic ones?
Solenoids and all that?
Or is it one of the older types similar to the hundreds I have rebuilt in the past?
Again...I have not ridden in it. He says it has no second gear. He can put it in first then shift to drive. He says if he puts it in second...nothing there.
I checked the fluid level. Its fine. It is not burnt. Believe me..I know those symptoms. The fluid is a little dark, but still red colored.
My first thought was a clutch pack fried...fluid does not indicate it.
If its electronic, could it be the solenoids down in the valve body?
Until I know what trans it is...I am not even sure where to start looking. I don't have any sort of repair manual on that year of ford.
just joined the site & wanted to introduce myself, i have what i call a hand-built 77f350 4x4 w/several mods & a 79 f350 4x4 that is in original cond. w/33k miles. looking forward to being part of the group
