i am trying to put an aftermarket ignition switch on my truck, but i don't know what wires are what. does anyone know the ignition wire diagram? can anyone tell me what all the colors mean? i've never seen an ignition like that...
I don't have the diagrams with me, but it's going to take more than one switch. It is very complicated.
If you haven't gone beyond the point of no return, I would plug the original switch back in, and then take a chisel or large screwdriver and drive the chrome part off the steering column where the key goes in. The key assembly should then come out, and you can get a new one at the parts store, or at the Ford dealer for about $14.00 with new keys. I had to do this to mine, and it didn't hurt a thing, breaking the original one off with a chisel.
