Distributor gear question

Anyone know if the 1981 5.0 f-150 came with a steel gear stock from the factory? I am in the process of swapping in a 92 roller 5.0 and it requires a steel gear. I have no idea if it is steel or cast! I assume the distributer from the 81 will work in the 92 since it is carbed right?

You need a steel gear and if your disributor is out of a non-rolled engine it will have a cast gear. Go to your local Ford dealer and buy a steel gear, or rob one off of a roller engine.
