I am new to this site... and new to my 1995 F350 7.3L Power Stroke Turbo Diesel.
I had the glow plugs replaced, and a tune up, etc...
Upon return for the shop... i noticed the indicator light on the dash is not coming on? The plugs are working (it's 10 degrees here in WI and the truck starts great). I also noticed that the 4x4 idicator light (same approximate location) is not coming on when in 4 wheel drive. The shop said "they never worked for them"... which i know is not true, since they worked upon bringing the truck in for repair. I thought I might be able to fix this myself.... maybe?
Is this possibly a simple fuse? If so, where can i find this fuse block. I found one under the hood... but it did not "list" what was what, and all fuses seemed fine. I assumed there must be another block, due to the few fuses found in the one under the hood...
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated... i have a manual on order, but still am waiting.
Well if you have a test light you can connect the cable to a good ground and check the fuses. Theres little metal thingys that like protrude almost through the plastic. both sides should light the test light. If one side doesnt you have a bad fuse. Do any of your other dummy lights work? Check the fuse panel under the steering column or on the driver side of the dashboard. Check the fuses the same way.

…..See you on the boards.
The wait to start light doesn't have anything to do with the glow plugs.... It's just a reminder that's run off the Ambient Air Temp Sensor(it may also be keyed off of other temp sensors as it goes out quicker when your coolant is warm).... If you check the glow-plug relay with a test light, you'll see that they stay on a lot longer than the light does... or just watch your volt gauge, it's pretty obvious on it when they go off.....
My guess is you have a couple of bulbs burned out.
So obviously your glow plugs are working if it starts up when its that cold. I'd say its a simple fuse that controls the dash lights. If I remember right, the dash light for the 4x4 is behind the gear shift in its own little cubby, and the Wait to start and Water in fuel lights are by each other on the little space to the right of the insrument cluster right? I'd say its a fuse...
Thanks, i'll check. You are right, the glow plugs all operate as they should, just the indicator lights (wait to start and 4x4) seem to have stopped since i got it back from the shop.
These fuse locations: It sounds like you are referencing spots not near the fuse block to the left of the steering column, but near the location of the actual indicator lights and gear shift (transfer case or tranny?) respectively. Are you meaning up under the dash? Thanks a bunch!
If your sitting in the drivers seat, theres a panel that you take off on the bottom part, underneath the light and fuel tank selector switch, to the left of the steering wheel. On the back of the cover you take off, should be the numbers and positions of fuses, and what all they control.
