Anyone know where I can get heater control cables? My heater control cable broke. I couldn't find any at the Advance Auto in the "help" section or in the motormite books.

Have you checked with your local Ford dealer? They may have them. Or one of your local wrecking yards.

 

Does your truck have the cables with the wire wrapped around the outside? If so, and you have a little extra length to the cable, you can unwind some of the outside wire and re-make the end with some needle nose pliers(I am assuming it broke near the end where it hooks up to the control lever). I have never worked on that year truck, but have worked on some other vehicles where I have saved the cable this way.

 

good idea thanks. Thought never occurred to me. I will hose the cable with PB blaster and make sure it isn't sticky anymore and trim to fit. super!

 

I used a generic choke cable and cut it to fit.
