My door ajar light stays on most of the time when I close the door. Also the light inside stays on, and the bed light stays on also when vehicle is in motion. When it feels like it it goes off. I replaced the top sensor in the door, the dufus in parts told me it was the door ajar sensor, but the thing is still on. I am not sure if the lights are on a timer or not, but the door ajar light will stay on and the inside light will go off after a few minutes, sometimes hours. Any help would be appreciated. Getting Vexed. Thanks
I am not sure, but from what you are saying, it sounds to me that the switch for interior light that works in the jamb is not shutting down when the door is closed. I am not familiar with the 97' and up models so I don't know if there is a separate switch just for the door ajar light. I would have to believe that it all works through the same switch and that the switch is not functioning. When the light does go out, it could either be the switch finally kicking the lights off or the saftey system on the truck that is made to automatically shut the lights off if you were to leave the door open when parked. The saftey feature is to keep you from running the battery down if you were to leave the door open. I have seen people with Expeditions have a similar problem. There switch was somewhere in the actual door latch. It would get gummed up and stick. Most of them used WD-40 and spray the switch/latch area out. The WD-40 would free up the switch. Just some thoughts. Good luck.
