What size carburetor came stock with the 352 and what was the last year the 352 was used in an f-100 or f150? The reason I ask is because I am trying to smog my f150 and I just discovered that it has a 352 in it. All along I thought it was a 390. Right now I have a 4bbl edelbrock but I may need to put a 2bbl holley in it to smog.
The stock carb on a 352 would have been an Autolite 2100 series 2bbl. For appearance sake, you could score one from a newer (early seventies) 360 or 390 and it would get you by. These carbs were made in easily half a dozen venturi sizes. To tell them apart, there is a number stamped on the left front side of the float bowl ie-1.08, 1.12, 1.21 etc. Ponycarburetors.com has a lot of info on these.
You're not looking at the engine stamping I hope. The FE series blocks usally had a 352 embossed on the front of the motor (some had a reversed stamped 105), but didn't necessarily mean the motor was a 352. It could be a 390, 360, 410, 352 and I believe the 428's, 406's had them. Can't remember about the 427. The only way to really tell is to check the VIN and cross reference it, as long as you knew the engine was original to the vehicle or to pull the head and measure the stroke. You can measure the stroke with the wooden dowel in a spark plug hole trick.
What he said. If you have a pre-77 F150, it has to be a 360 or a 390 if it is the original motor. If it is a 4x4, it is a 360. If it is a 2wd, get your VIN and post it here and we'll tell you whether it was originally a 360 or a 390. There is no way it could be a 352.
