I have a 65 F250 with a fact 352 and 2bbl, it needs a new intake so I would like to put an edl 4 bbl on it, problem is I can't find an edl performance intake for a 352, is it the same as a 390?
If so, great. Any reccomendations for intakes and carbs for regular driving, I was thinking a performance edl and a 600 edl
Save the money, You are not gonna like the results of all the money that you dumped into that upgrade. Been there & done that.
Have you ever mashed the gas and felt the engine was starving for gas, with the 2 barrel? What's the intake and carb running now $525.00? Most of a day to swap it out, plus other tidbits.
First off, welcome to the club. Secondly, I agree with John, unless you are running something strong under the manifold, stick with the 2brl and save the cash for when you want to rebuild and upgrade it to the 390....

Many people here have there own opinions about converting from a 2 bbl, to a 4 bbl. I converted to a 4 bbl and am completely happy with it. It gave me more power, and 2 mpg better. I used a stock cast iron manifold that I got for nothing. And had a rebuilt Edelbrock 600 carb installed for $200. So there's ways to get around the $500 package if you just look around. If you do this you will want to get a hotter coil, and electronic ignition to maximize your performance. Just my 2 cents
I agree with John for the most part. Upgrading to the performer manifold and carb on a completely stock engine isn't going to give you a big boost in power. On the rock hard fact side of the agrgument a 600cfm 4bbl will atomize fuel better than a 500cfm 2bbl. The primaries are smaller than the venturies on the 2bbl. Its not necessarily an issue with not getting enough air as both setup will give you all you need. You should see a small gain in performance and mileage but most would agree its not worth all that money.

Hi Welcome to the FE club. I had a 62 352 2-bl ,and put a Edelbrock Perf intake on it. The runners on the 62 heads were larger than the later 390's and larger than the performer intake. At that time I knew nothing about removing aluminum from runners and had to pay out the nose to have it done. Cutters for aluminum are expensive and require a die grinder. So I would say, all 352's (FE'S) are not the same, depends on year and runner size. Just because the bolt holes are the same does not mean that they are all the same.
As long as the ports in the head are bigger all the way around on the intake you should have been fine. Port matching will improve things but is not necessary. When the heads have a smaller port size than the intake is where you have a problem. All FE heads intake ports should be bigger than the performer's ports.
Well I do need an Intake anyways because the one on it was butchered, and I figure I myaswell put the intake and carb I want on it, Though my friend offered me an intake for a 360, while i was pulling it off last night in a blizzard I noticed the block had written on it 352, he insisted it was a 360, the intake has a choke stove, I need and want a manual, is 352,360,390 the same casting???? will it work????Can I block off the choke stove??? I don't have a clue what year this intake is and it is pretty rusty I'll take to a hot oil oven.
And what I really am asking is if I order a brand new EDLE intake how will I know it is the right one so I'm not screwed out of 200.00
Yes if you buy a Edelbrock it will fit your 352 casted block. About 90% of all FE's were casted 352. I am very picky when I rebuild FE's with head and intake runner's. Even though different runners will bolt up because the bolt holes are the same I like to at least use the correct intake runner size's to match ( I am not talking about port matching each runner). Buy Yes it will work.
Any intake from a 428, 390 or below will work fine. Almost all FE blocks up to 1973 had 352 on them. Even the might 427. The performer will also work fine. Wait until you see the difference in weight if you decide to get it. Some of the 427 intakes will not work but I doubt you run across any.
aaahhh rat, dont short yourself ..some newer FEs have 352 on (my old '76 390 did) them ...these engines are great but are a pita because of the different numbers ..I have seen FT engines with the reverse 105 AND 352 on them...gotta love FEs..they were used in so many different applications ..but yes 352 on the block dont mean it is a 352 !!
What was the casting number? I'm betting your 76 truck had a pre 73 engine in it. The 73 and up blocks had either 105 or nothing at all on the front of the block from what I have seen and heard. Most FT's are blank I do believe, some have 105. The 330 may have had 352 marked on it. I don't believe the 361 or 391 ever did. Not positive though. You are likely to find anything set in stone with the FE.
I dont have the casting number ..that engine threw a rod RIPieces ..It was definatly out of a '76 F250..the block is long gone now interestingly enough the 352 was on the back of the block where the bellhousing covers the back side of the motor ..on the drivers side (5678) side..I dont know what to tell ya!
