choke stove

I guess I'll try this again.1979(400) What does the choke stove do and do I need it?

Sorry it wasn't coming up.I guess I,m not patient with this computer.I' new at this.All three just came up at once.Try not to let this happen again.Again so sorry.

you mean the one commong off the intake? it heats the coil.

The engine draws air thru the choke stove which heats up the air. The heated air is then drawn past the bimetallic spring in the choke which warms it up. As the spring warms up it opens the choke.

oops,

my mistake torque nailed it. i confused the hot air tube from the manifold to the carb choke with the heatstove.

Choke stove

Any ideas where I can get a choke stove?!979F250(400).Don't even know how it hooks up.Everthing was unhooked when I replaced the engine.I have electric choke.Do I even need this thing hooked up?

haven't you already asked this question? you can get the part from a parts store they run 10.00 and look like a dryer duct tube but smaller.

What type of carb do you have?

Some electric chokes are just an aux helper circuit for faster choke pull-off for emissions and require the choke stove. Some electrics are stand alone units.
