polarbear,
Is there places on the net to find sales figures for other manufactures? I've been serching for Toyota just to compair with no luck. Sorry for the hijacking.
Interesting...the Ranger is out-selling the Colarado/Canyon again....
The Ranger is the only truly small truck in the market. The rest have gone "mid-sized". Most of its former competition is note even available in a standard cab (except for I think the Colorado/Canyon and I'm not sure about the Tacoma).
The Ranger puzzle is real simple- if Ford puts a big enough rebate on it (like the $3000 through most of November), Rangers go flying off of the shelves. If the rebate is < $2000, they don't.
BLariat, JD Power is a joke. They seemingly invent a category for a manufacturer so they can claim an top overall rating. Their ratings have nothing to do with "quality" and everything to do with customer satisfation. The two can be VASTLY different equations as witnessed by the nationalistic furor still played out today by some Americans over where they think their cars are manufactured. That, of course, is a joke since globalization has created a huge melting pot that all car makers dip into, be it builiding in cheaper labor markets or content from businesses outside the home industry.
Sport-Trac is in limbo right now. The last 2005 rolled off the line in July, and there is no 2006. The all-new 2007 Sport-Trac starts production in February, and I can't wait. It's a real Explorer this time (built on the Explorer platform, not the Ranger chassis the old one was based on), with IRS and an available V8. Should be a sweet little truck.
