Test Drive 2000 X, Need advice fast.
Dealer let me take it home and drive it for a couple of days. As I drove it yesterday, when I rotated the heat selector switch from Defrost to off rather quickly the battery signal would flash in the dash. If I rotated it slow it was fine. Once the vehicle was stopped the problem went away. Then I was checking out the outside temp display, mileage etc, as I switched from item to item it would cut out the radio for a split second every time I went from item to item display.
Then after I checked everything out, I used the remote to lock and unlock the doors, and then I hit the panic button to check that out. It beeped once, and then click, click, click. Battery was dead. I called the dealer he said the new battery must have failed. I put a charger on it for 4 hours and it started fine, checked it this morning and it still starts fine, panic works fine. I haven't yet checked out the other problems to see if they still exsist.
My first thought is yeah, bad battery.
Could low voltage battery could cause the electrical system to do some funky things even while the vehicle is running? Or could this be another problem that is draining the battery?
I'm real afraid of getting a vehicle with electrical problems. They can be an absolute nightmare.
I need some input real quick.
Thanks,
Pete
If he put a new battery then the problem was there prior....it just wasn't the battery that was the problem.
