Spark Plugs - Which one's?

Ok I am ready to change the plugs in my '00 with 5.4L which ones do you guys suggest using? The vehicle has 87K miles, is there anything else I should look at changing while I am doing it? Thanks! Oh and the vehicle is running fine.

GO with Motorcraft Platinum plugs. They are OEM replacements and you will have no problems. I ran Bosch for a while and changed them out due to a "missing" condition.

Go with the Autolite Double Platinum, seems to be the best plug for this truck.

Couple things,

1. If your truck is running fine, why bother with a plug change? I have 95K+ miles on my '00 and it runs great.

2. Go with OEM Motorcraft plugs. If they can go 100K+ miles that's good enough for me.

I used NGK Iridium IX plugs with new Ford Racing 9mm wires. I didn't have to, I just wanted to. It runs great. 99,000 miles and going.........

The 5.4 has COPS. No wires to mess with.... just an aggrevating P.I.T.A to change the plugs!

As plug gap increases due to normal wear ( less prone to on platinums ) the electronics have to produce more voltage/current to jump the gap. This happens automatically and you will never realize the electronics are working harder and may posssibly fail sooner.

Also the steel body of the plug can get stuck in the aluminum head. I would recommend changing them at the mileage Ford specifies, earlier in the trucks in for service and it makes sense to consolidate some work.

I pulled one of my plugs recently, more out of curiosity than anything, and it looked brand new and the gap was spot on. I'm pretty sure Ford recommends 100K mile plug changes with plat plugs....at least that's what they advertise and what I've been reading on forums for the past five years. I've even read where some have 150K miles on original plugs. I'd replace mine in a heartbeat, but as mentioned above, my truck runs great and fuel mileage is as good or better than ever.....plus I keep hearing those words of wisdom in my head that my late grandfather used to tell me, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
