I greatly appreciate you input. I have been getting so much sales at the counter and not yet has someone shown me the speaker you mentioned. I really like the kevlar design of the pioneer and would really like to find somewhere to hear a pair but I have just about made up my mind to get a set and be done with it. Nothing else compares on paper especially for the money. I have had some high end pioneer equipment in the past but it was many years ago so I am sure it has not changed. Again please don't hold you tongue because people of intelignece understand that a lot of it is personal preference and that should not start a controversy.
My 2004 Excursion was the second vehicle I used Pioneer's 4way 200w speakers TS series with a Pioneer head unit (first a 3000gt). The six 6x8 that I put in the Ex were drop in, they are made to fit the Ford/Mazda unique factory size. I splurged and bought Crutchfield's speaker wiring harness so I wouldn't have to make them myself. Sound is SO much better than the stock JUNK speakers. I bought all mine on ebay, there are always 2 or 3 dealers that have what appear to be returns or repairs but all of mine were factory sealed and new and perfect out of the box. Prices are low, the 6x8 4way that I got were under $50.00 pair
If I use the Pioneer mentioned above in the future I can add an amp to it. Yes/No and if yes then how big could I add. I have never had an amp before so I know it will make it louder but I hear a lot about how much better it will sound as well. Will it make it clearer at all volumes or exactly what could I expect.
The Pioneer 6x8 I used handle about 200watts, should be okay for use with amp. My experience with the huge interior of my Excursion, I don't know why I would want to add one, maybe to make the people in the vehicle next to me deff? I have great range and tone, and all the base I could want (originally was going to add a small sub woofer, but don't need it) but to each his own. Until I used these speakers (I installed my head unit with the stock speakers first) I had no idea how bad the sound quality was with the stock ones. Try it, you'll like it.
As others have said, buy what sounds good to you and is in whatever budget you set for yourself. I have an '05 F250 CC that I just put a nice little system in and I went with Focal for the highs/mids and JL Audio for the sub. I was really impressed with the Focal speakers. Best advice I can give is to go to a lot of stereo shops, bring your favorite cd's and do a lot of listening.
The truck that I am getting has captains chairs in the back seat and I am wandering what the best way to put a sub and amp back there are. Someone suggested modifying the console and putting the sub there. I am also getting a Kenwood touchscreen for my faceplate with gps and dvd capabilities. I am also putting dvd monitors in the back of the headrests. I want a system that is going to have a clear sound with a little umph. I don't need anything that is going to blow out some eardrums. I have a 9yr old that rides with me sometimes too. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
The truck you are getting has captain chairs front and back? then I agree with modifying the center counsel. You could maybe a 12 icnh or two there.
