upgrading speakers

upgrading speakers
I have f-250 2001 model sc. w/6 disc indash stereo
I would like to upgrade my stereo systems speakers!
There seems to be a thousands of different types of speakers out there
to choose from!
can someone tell me the what the differents in these types?
2-way plate speakers
phaze 1 coaxial speakers
DCD speakers
3-way speakers
4- way speakers
coaxial speakers
what I am looking for is a quality sound, not loudness!
factory systems sounds good but can't always understand the words.
also would like to add amp and a subwoofer later after speaker swap.

2-way: has a woofer and tweeter
3-way: has a woofer, midrange and tweeter
4-way: has a woofer, midrange, tweeter and super tweeter or just another tweeter
ok, well u have to ask urself a serious question. how much do u wanna spend. i would suggest infinity kappa speakers. im unsure off hand at what size u have in ur truck, but go for the 3 way of possible. i would also look into MB quart, they make a nice set of component speakers (dedicated mid-bass driver or like a mini sub woofer for mid range bass and tweeter for the highs with crossover so block out the unwated signals). IMHO i would go compontent up front and either 2 or 3 way out back. as for a sub woofer and amp, thats another questin u have to ask urself, how much do u wanna spend, how much bass do u want and how much room do u wanna give up. hope this helps.
