average hp and tourqe

does anybody know the average in trucks??? not modded.

It still amazes me to read the differences between the 351M and the 400. 156 hp / 262 ft-lbs for the 351M, compared to 158 hp / 276 ft-lbs for the 400. It just goes to show you how amazingly bogged down these engines were from the factory.

Even the 460 engines of that era were beat to death by the smog *****. IIRC they were just barely at 200 HP due to all of the emissions equipment they were saddled with.

Engines listed for my 76 Gran Torino, (published in 1976)

351W 154HP @ 3400 RPM, with 286 Torque @ 1800 RPM

351M 152HP @ 3800 RPM, with 274 Torque @ 1000 RPM (1800?)
400 180HP @ 3800 RPM, with 336 Torque @ 1800 RPM

460 202HP @ 3800 RPM, with 352 Torque @ 1600 RPM

Not sure how this compares to a Truck 351M/400...
