what a difference
i just relized, i have a down pipe exhaust leak right were the pipe mates with the turbo witch will get fixed tomorrow. the weird thing is i had the hyper tech contoller installed stage three and my bully dog came in. i installed the 75hp program and it was puffing black smoke and fluiding the engine because the turbo was spooling super slow, im guessing because of the exhaust leak. so i took down to the 50hp program and wow what a difference black smoke and was moving better than the hyper tech in stage three. but still a little slow due to the exhaust leak thats what im hoping is keeping the turbo from spooling up. i cant belevie how ****ty hyper tech in stage three is compared to the bully dog stage one. and i have some black smoke. do you guys think the exhaust leak is keeping the turbo from spooling faster?

now on the other hand if you have a leaky manifold, manifold to up pipe donut, up pipe to collector donut, or collector leak that is when you will be losing pressure that will affect you negatively.
edit: do you have a pic of where the leak is occuring? is there any soot. you may wanna climb under and over and do some looking for leaks at all the connections.

Yeah 1997's right. I had a leak in my exhaust manifold that I couldn't stop by just tightening everything down. Pulled the manifold this weekend and milled it, added a gasket, and it definitely made a difference in performance. You might want to take a close look around and try to see if anything else is leaking. I found mine when I was changing oil (cylinder above filter). Good luck, aloha.

if it were me i'd slap some copper RTV on there with no gasket. A lot of turbo mustang guys are doin that.

I installed a FEL-PRO gasket, part #MS93489. I got it at a local Redline Automotive. These guys have just about everything I ask for in stock. I didn't go to the stealership, as it seems that no matter what I go there for, they need to order it. Hope this info helps, aloha.
