79 w/351M, 2bbl. Starts fine. Idles about 1-2 minutes, then starts to sputter and dies. Pulled the top of the breather off and saw gas bubbling out of the barrels. As long as the throttle is opened up, it will run, but chokes out at an idle. Any suggestions on fixing the problem?
Could be the float sticking or set too high. Thus flooding out as gas overfills the bowl and runs into the carb throat.
When was the last time the carb was apart? Could be dirty or need a rebuild kit.
No idea when the carb was re-done. Motor was overhauled 16K ago. I just bought the rig, so I'm working through the glitches. Any way to un-stick the float without tearing the carb down? Or, would it be a good idea to put a kit in it for good measure?
Tried tapping w/the screwdriver a couple of different times. Also ran a bottle of Techron cleaner throught it, not to mention spraying the whole thing with Berryman's. The open vacuum fittings have me wondering if that's not part of the problem. Thanks for the tips.

Ahhh! More info.
You didn't mention vacuum fittings un-plugged in your first post.
I would suggest plugging them and re-setting your idle.
