I don't doubt that you love your ratchets, and I wasn't trying to knock Snap on in any way. Snap on is the best tool out there, in my opinion. It's just that with everything that puts in demands for my money, it's nearly impossible for me to justify brand new off of the truck. But enjoy your ratchets, and know that I'm jealous!!! I'll just muddle along with my 1/4 inch snap on ratchet and wait for the 3/8 and 1/2 Craftsman ratchets to break.
Just a thought, I've bought 2/3 if my Snap~on stuff, from ebay for between 1/3 and 1/2 the cost. I still stick with Craftsman for the majority of my (non inherited) tools, as they are my best bang for the buck.

I am sorry I was trying to make fun of myself. I have tried ebay and I swear it is rigged some of the stuff goes for way to high. Any more then 1/2 I stop bidding because my Snap Dealer treats me very good. So more I buy from him the better deals I get.

Ok, so it's not just me... I swear everytime I go decide to watch some random Snap-on tool on Ebay, it ends up selling for not much less than new... especially after the bogus shipping charges are tacked on...

Nope...Not just you. For the 1/4 in rachet that I won, my winning bid was $20, and shipping was $4. I learned the hard way to always check the shipping...
You have to be really careful I was just on ebay and someone was bidding on a set of extractors and it was already over the list on Snap On website. I got the set for 80 dollars it was up to 100 dollars and if I was not such a snap on junkie I could have gotten the Hansen set for 60. It is just sick, people have other people bid it up or there are stupid people that do not check prices.
I have been reading about the Craftsman vs. Snapon vs. Mac debate. I was just wondering if everyone could chime in with what they use and whether they are a proffesional or DIYer.
Me...
All Craftsman.... Do it yourselfer
I like the craftsman for the price. Also if I bust one, a replacement is a 10 minute drive away. (And being there give me an excuse to buy a few more)

Work on construction equipment for a living. I started off with SK and they do not hold up so I buy Snap On for most everything. The Mac truck is my sears store if it is not used often I will buy Mac. They are also somewhat reasonable on air tools even though IR and CP make them but it is nice they come to me and I do not have to waste time looking for the stuff. I would never buy Snap On if I did not make a living with them. I just added up my tools it was 27,000 dollars and I might be happy at 50,000. I need something else to spend my money on.

90% Craftsman
5% Snap on
5% 'other'
For the most part I'm DIY, however, I do work part time at a Goodyear.
Craftsman has been good to me. It's not very far away to go to replace them so that's good.
If you start thinking about power tools, look into Dewalt, Milwaukee, and Makita.
use craftsman,mastercraft,and snap-on
cant beat a set of snap-on ratchets or screwdrivers. had screw drivers for over 8 yrs only broke the phillips one when about 6mth old. beat and thrash and still hold up, only thing that sucks is our dealer switched brands and selling a bunch of cheaper junk.
I have some Indestro, Powerkraft, Easco, Challenger, S&K, and a few others through inheritence from my grandfather (who had been a mechanic twice: 20's and late 50's). When I started buying tools, the best bang for the buck for me was/is Craftsman. I do have and buy specialty tools of all the others (Snap~on, Mac, Matco). For what it's worth, I will either reccomend the Craftsman thin profile ratchets, or their catalog only ones with the built in speeder. Or buy Snap~Ons, as they are much more dependable the the standard Craftsman's (as most people don't use breaker bars as often as they should).
if you do get one of those 'rachet/socket sets' make sure to get one in a metal container.
I've got one with like 50sockets, and the damn plastic container got demolished within a year.
buying tools is easy... making sure you can keep them organized on a jobsite isn't as easy.
Can't tell you how many 1/2'' sockets and wrenches I own, simply because when I went to find one, I couldn't and bought another.
