Angry Problems with EBPV on 96 PSD

Now that its cold outside I just remembered the problem that my truck has. Even after my truck gets up to operating temp, the ebpv still comes on as i am driving down the road which seems to make me lose about 5 mph and all my boost. Why is it still coming on even though my truck is warm. I can pull off the road and let it idle and it wont come on then but as soon as i hit around 1000 rpm, on it comes again. Finally after about 45 minutes of driving it seems to quit. Does it have something to do with the fact i have a tymar intake and the sensor is just laying in the fender well?? Sorry for the long post but this really annoys me. Wish it could just be like my dodge and not have one at all but.... O well thanks guys.

Unplug it. Or better yet gut it out and you'll have no more worries!

I removed my EBPV and unplugged it, pulled a CEL and code (don't remember what #). So I ended up plugging it back in, aloha.

This is on Steve Baz' site, it might be it:
EPR: Exhaust backPressure Regulator, also EBP regulator Output; For quicker engine warm-up at cold temperatures. If the IAT is below 37°F (50°F some models) and the EOT is below 140°F (168° some models) the PCM sends a duty cycle signal to a solenoid which controls oil flow from the turbo pedestal. This causes a servo to close a valve at the turbo exhaust outlet. The PCM monitors the EBP input to determine if the EPR needs to be disabled to provide power for increased load, then reapplys the EPR as load demand decreases until EOT or IAT rises. PID: EPR (duty cycle), EBP (pressure)

the plug is right under your intake side of the turbo its a 2 wire plug. it wont smoke anymore than it already does when its cold out. its there to help the truck warm up faster in the mornings. but my trucks are strait piped and its LOUD when that valve closes. but they warm up just fine driving them in the morning also since it advances timing.

white smoke when its cold? thats pretty much normal thats unburnt fuel. if your gettting light colored smoke when your standing on it if it has a blueish hue to it i bet its oil getting in the fuel through the injector orings.

shouldnt run the truck over 1300 preturbo. i try to stay under 1200 though.
