I am planning on doing some mods to my truck in the quest for more power.I aleady have a set of Edelbrock 60379 , shorties , K&N , 3" cat and cat back on the truck there is big difference already it will now break the tires free for a dead stop. And crusieing down the highway requires less pedal to keep upi with traffic.
I plan on putting the Edelrock intake for the 5.8L truck motor and Crane/Cobra 1.7 rockers and cam come spring time.I email Comp Cams and they recommend these cam spec for a SD motor 206-212 at .050 and 258-264 advertise .511-.511 114* this is a roller motor. With the flow numbers for the heads and the cam specs I guessing I should be some near 300-325HP and 375 plus ft lbs of torque at the flywheel.
My question is will the stock Lightning ECM be a good fit for ths combo?.I have a lead on a new Ford Reman for a good price. Is it a lot more agressive than a regular F-Series ECM?.Will it firm up the shifts in the transmission or will a shift kit still be needed?.
Or would it be a good idea to look into a custom chip?.I would like to stay way for doing the TwEECer thing as that will just lead to more mods down the road.I have to remind myself that is a work/tow truck. Also what about injectors are the 19# borderline.?.I have a set of FMS 24# I pulled out of my Z as I needed 36# injectors for the current combo.

Because you'll still need a custom tune even with the Lightning PCM, your best bet is to go with the ECM with the current setup and get it custom tuned on a dyno with an SCT chip.
