Hello all! I'm not a lightning regular but I am in the middle of a 351W buildand for my F150 and could use your advise/expertice in reference to the "early generaton" lightnings and the possibility of running speed density on this engine.
1)Lightning ecm- is this a lightning specific computer or would a mustang speed density computer work?
2)If the Mustang computer would work,is the fuel curve "upped" by the MAP sensor?
3)Did the early generation trucks come with 19lb injectors (the orange ones)?
Is there a place where I can purchase a lightning ECM? I'm trying to avoid the mass air conversion. I know this has probably been beat to death in here but any help would be great.Thanks.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 21-Oct-02 AT 08:12 PM (EST)]a lghtning map is really no different than a regular f series. so dont sweat that too much. some processor codes are icy1, c3p2. or you can get an a9l mustang processor and have a chip made for your application. but tranny controls will have to be had from a separate controller such as banks trans command or the baumanator. also the lightning pcm are only compatible with the e4od tranny. the early lightnings came with 19# injectors. orange tops. also the mustang computer is a mass air pcm. another obstacle. just find a lightning pcm. they are out there just be patient.
Hey thanks for the reply. I figured this post would find you in here and you could lead me in the right direction. But another question arises. I am running the 5 speed so do you foresee any problems since there will be no e4od interface? Regards.

Wow!! With that kind of trap you have mid to low 11's in site. Were you hooking up or on street meats? Sounds like a real fun truck. Thanks again for your help.
