I get the great call from the wife today. "The car wont go in Drive or Reverse I had to drive home in 2nd"
I live not so far away from work so I go home for lunch. Not low on Tran fluid like I thought so lets check it out. The gear selector no longer makes it way to park at the left. Move over to the right into reverse and its pointing to neutral etc. Anyone heard of this? I think it must be in the plastic indicator but not sure.

Does the lever seem loose and sloppy? If it does, the shift tube broke, or the bolts on the back of the tube that bolt the shift cable bracket to the tube came loose.
I have had this problem also. Mine was up under the dash where the cable adjuster is for setting the transmission pointer. The plastic piece was broken, so I used a plastic tie wrap to hold it together. It consisted of a thumb wheel that is turned to lengthen, or shorted the cable. This adjusts your pointer. This only affected the visible pointer position and not the operation of the transmission, although I could see how you would select something other than drive, if you were using the visual location of your pointer. Hope this helps.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
