here is a new one. 94 bronco 302 e40d 4 wheel abs. after the thuck sits for a while (hot outside or cold outside) truck will idle high for a few seconds around 1500 rpmsthen it drops below 500 rpms shoots back up and the check engine light will flash 4 times. any ideas on what this is. i hooked up a matco determinator scanner and came back with a code 11 all good..
thanks
This may not be what you mean, but when you first turn the engine on I get a 4 as well, which i was told means it found a V8 engine, 3 for V6 etc. then it will rev the engine a minute or so then start out putting your codes.
It also means that somehow the EEC computer believes that it is being put through the KOEO test every time you start it. Thats a problem. I'd check the test connector and the wiring harness to it. The KOEO test can be administered by simply jumping the correct pair of terminals in the EEC test connector together. It may be that somehow these two terminals or the wires to them have shorted. Otherwise I am unaware of any reason why the light would flash at all during normal operation in other words without the EEC test terminals jumped together).
