used 1705 superchip

I have talked to a guy who is selling a 1994 - 2003 1705 superchip, 3 program tuner. He says he has had it for 6 months, but is selling it because he updated to the edge type programmer. He say's he is disappointed with the edge, because there was not that much of a difference between the two programers. To make a long story short, he is selling it for $225.00. Should I be looking for any problems a used programmer possibly might have, (no returns on private party goods), besides lights that might come on after installing it?? I have no gauges, 4 inch exhaust, kwik filter, 10k mod, shimmed fpr, sonnax valve mod, 1997 4wd automatic, crew cab, 7.3. He also said I don't need gauges if using in safe mode, which I don't agree with. I KNOW I NEED GAUGES, BUT WOULD LIKE TO GRAG A PROGRAMMER AT THE RIGHT PRICE!!! Any thoughts would be appreciated. Jeff

As long as the seller unlocked from his truck it should be fine.
