superchips programmer custom tuning

Superchips states that if you install or have a throttle body modification (bbk 65mm spacer) that you need a custom program to have the programmer operate properly with such modifications. How is this done? Do local Superchip dealers have the ability to create custom programs? Are there any other modifications that one has to take into consideration before purchasing a programmer. K&N FIPK for one? Don't want to buy a programmer and have it not work with modifications I might make. The usual throttle body spacer, K&N FIPK, and cat back exhaust system. Although, Superchips states only headers will effect the program. Just wondering what kind of task is involved with custom programming. Is it something that is done upon programming the truck or is the programmer shipped with the custom program installed on it?

Throttle body spacers do not require custom programming.

If I purchase a new throttle body, do I need a custom program? I was wrong in calling the 65mm as a spacer. It is a replacement throttle body. What would I have to do to use a custom program? And how would I do this?

Shorty headers aren't always a problem. Long tube headers are because they displace the O2 sensors. Double check your air/fuel ratio, just because it not "seem" to have a problem doesn't mean it isn't running too lean (which can cause problems in the long term).

I contacted SUPERCHIPSCUSTOM and told them my set-up.I asked if i was still within the parameters of the tuner and they said i should be ok,but i would like to check a/f ratio anyway. Now if i was running lean would any codes be generated?

I changed plugs about 10,000 miles ago, and they were the prettiest color tan, but that was before i installed headers.

on shorties you'll be ok, on the longtubes velocity is speedened up and 02 sensors end up reading a lean condition- more likely than not- the plugs will be tan again-phil

Superchips Custom and Superchips are two different companies. I don't support Superchips custom and don't know their tuning, it may not be agreesive enough that its a problem with their tunes.
