I seemed to have misplaced my wallet w/the code to the keypad and my license w/my address. Anyone know if the code can be changed w/out the original factory pin. This is for an 05 f150 w/les than 1,500 miles and i would hate for someone to find the wallet and decide to throw a party in my truck while im out or sleeping. The manual says it can be changed but i must have original pin and the original will stay functional. Any suggestion?
It can be changed at a dealer, but will probably cost you $50 or so I was told. I was unware the printed it under the dash. My S-D I had to have the dealer program due to the tradeing dealer the got it from did not give them the pin.
That code is permanant and cannot be changed, you can only add other codes. Tha only way to change it is to replace the body security module and that has to be done at a dealer because it has to be programmed.
The manual has the information in it you need to reprogram. The factory setting never goes away, you just re-write a new code over it. The factory code is on the receiver somewhere in the truck not sure where.
I believe you have to remove the rear seat to get to the code, so it's probably easier to have the dealer pull the code for you. When I picked my truck up it didn't have the card. I had to have the dealer pull the code from the body module. It took them about 15 minutes and I didn't have to pay a dime, but I noticed it before I ever left the lot. As stated previously, the code in the module is permanent. If you have the original code you can reprogram your own personal code, but the other code will remain.
Right, so you would end up with two codes. The factory original and a custom five-digit code. The other solution is to electrically disconnect the keypad.
BSMART27,
While I cannot truthfully answer your question I will say this. Don't sweat it. More than likely if someone does find your wallet the most they would do is take any cash and credit cards if you have any. I doubt most people would be interested in tracking down and getting inside your truck. Either way from what I have read here it's not much you can do to prevent it.
Thanks for all responses. I guess i'll take it to the dealer unles it is easy to disable because my license and address was in it. Dont think i'll ever use it anyway. If it is easy to disconnect can you give some direction. thanks again Bsmarter than i was.
