Does anyone know if there is a motor mount tower to allow me to install a 390 into a 1979 Ford Shortbox 4-wheel drive? If so, where I might locate them? Thanks in advance.
1st measure from your motor mount studs to the rear of the block on the factory motor.
Next on your FE 360/390 swap the motor mounts on the motor from left to right & measure from the motor mount studs to the back of the block.
Now measure back from holes in the motor mount towers & mark the difference from your 1st & 2nd measurement
& that is where you will drill & slot your new holes to mirror the existing ones.
Then weld closed the factor holes.
Next you will need to cut the rear of the driver side tower to make clearance for the left exhaust manifold.
Depending on how much you cut off there maybe need to do reinforcement of that tower.
You will of cores need a bell housing if you have a stick or an auto trans & starter.
The power steering pump will work from F150 but you will need the FE block bracket.
You may also need a relocater for your oil filter for clearance.
Next take the truck some where to have a custom exhaust made.
