Pulling motor?

Everything is off the motor, but is it just motor mounts and the tranny bolts?

It's out of my parts truck. It's an early 99 truck but it has a remanned motor from 03 so I'm sure it has PMR's. But I got my hands on a set of forged rods to go in it. So...just the motor mounts and...?

Yes you will need to remove the 3 large motor mount nuts on each side. You don't need to remove the actual motor mount. Then you need to remove all 6 bell housing bolts along with the 6 torque converter bolts and starter. Also, you need to remove your turbo and up pipes if you have not already taken them off.

How hard is it to pull the fan? I didn't remove it since I was swapping motor for motor. But upon installation the engine was wobbling a little when hoisted on the cherry picker and a small corner on 1 blade broke off when it hit the cherry picker arm. How crucial is it with the tip of the corner broke off? Should I worry about it, or swap fans?

Swap them out.. It takes only a few minutes at the stage you are at.. The fan just spins off once you get it broke loose. I had to use a special tool to break it loose.

The fan can be a PITA. But yea if that thing is off balance it will wobble a lot.

Just got back from NAPA and they didn't have anything in stock. What exactly is this "special tool" you speak of? They had a universial kit for $75+ or a specific ford diesel wrench that "is to be used with the universial kit" for almost $40. Then they had the same wrench along with some holder thingy that was in between. Are these my only good options, or is there another way. I'd rather not have to pay that much for something that I will only use this one time and that's it.
