I am thinking of doing the map to maf swap on my 92 F150 4x4. I have a 5.0L motor and my question is will this swap work with the E4OD trans.? I have heard that there are companys that make a trans. only controller but does anyone know where to find these companys or who they are? Any help would be appreciated.
i dont know the company name off hand but yes that will be required to make this work. But why are you wanting to swap over. the only reason to go MAF is if you are seriously modding your motor like stroking it for instance. you 302/speed density setup will handle basic mods like intake, heads, computer cam and headers just fine.
The main reason is to go to sfi instead of bank fired. I am also putting on heads, cam, new injectors, bigger throttle body, and who knows what else. I arlready have headers and air intake.
what are you goals. what cam had you planned on using. the stock 19lb injectors should handle the mods you listed just fine plus the computer will stay happy. mass air dosent make more power it just makes major mods easier on the computer but even mass air needs tuning. the lightning guys are speed density an love it over MAF. Bank can actually make more power as well. go here www.fordfuelinjection.com
and that is where I usually run below 5000rpm This truck is driven daily and off road on ocassion. I havent picked out a cam yet, depends on what heads I choose. What do you think is better a 5.0 HO intake or the Edelbrock truck intake?
personally i wouldnt even waste money on a 302 in a 4wd application. a 5.8 swap would be a lot better. but since you want low end the edelbrock truck intake is the way to go.
