460 Engine

I just had my 460 rebuilt. I've put about 1200 miles on it. My oil seems to have started disapearing. It does not show signs of burning and is not leaking anywhere, anyone know whats going on? Also, before, I could do a little power brake every once in a while and smoke the tires for fun but now with this new engine it just sits up and wont spin. All in all the truck runs great, starts first try, very very dependable.

Riley, You need to break it in. I pissed and moaned about the 352 rebuild in my blue truck and when it got about 8500 miles on the wheel it started waking up. It has a little over 9 on it now and I am becoming happy with it FINALLY. I guess it takes a little while for it to come together.

460 Engine

Riley,

Sorry I can't answer your question, but could you tell me about what you paid for the rebuild? I have a 460 in my truck now and I think it could use an overhaul. I can pick up a short block at the local parts store here for around $800. Machining and parts for a stock rebuild are more than that (around here, anyhow).

Thanks!

K.

I got the whole 9 yards done to my engine, bored .30, new everything with a police interceptor rebuild kit. Used top of the line everthing to put it back together, though everything I used was replacement stock, I got away only paying about $900, then again, the guy does raceing motors in a shop in his back yard where mine was done so I now I got a good deal. Im not sure what it would cost at a shop or if it where done commercially. Surely you can sneak out at under 1,500 unless of course you want top build a MONSTER.
