you didn't rev the motor very high, because I would think that at peak torque at 1600 rpms would have let them up providing that is a high enough rev to engage the torque converter.
I assume that I am your target audience for the post. Yes, you are correct. I didnt want to damage anything in a truck with about 100 miles on it.
From seat of the pants driving, the motor must have had some sort of torque management. It just felt like it wasnt giving me everything that it had to offer.
(you were the target, i hope i didn't offend you as that was not my point, i was stating what I thought to be true) no the truck isn't giving you everything it has to offer, that will happen with the aftermarket. but i doubt anyone is going to be programing their work truck any time soon. BTW i have been told that they are detuned until they roll over a certain mileage before the ECM lets the engine eat, IDK iof this is true or not though. it makes sence to me.
BTW I was told by a GM employee that all of the GM trucks are run on a rolling dino WFO before they get shipped, so if it didn't blow at the factory, then it prolly won't blow on your test drive. so your vehicles engine was broke in before you saw it. they are not virgins like everyone thinks.

All cars/trucks have this occur at the factory to calibrate the speedo....
And they don't do it to "check if she'll blow"
duramaximizer, I like to err on the side of caution. The truck is a company truck. I am sure that the black box inside might tell on me if I blew it up. My family is really accustomed to eating on a regular basis as well as having a place to sleep that does not have a big 3 emblem on the front. I'll do what it takes to keep it that way.
As dumb as it may sound, I've never mastered the power brake. I cant do it in anything I own or have ever owned except for my drag only mustang. You cant hold enough brake pedal to stop the rears from spinning.
Yea I "heard" that the pistons are made of soda cans too. And Ford engines are made of swiss cheese from the moon. LOL Hey that's why my old F-150 catches mice so well. Come on people this is the way stupid urban legends start. We are smarter than this. I want proof of the D'max sleeves blowing out. I've owned both Japanese and Domestic brands and love Ford trucks but hey I can't blindly follow rumours. All had there good points the biggest POS was a 1989 T-bird that I bought new.
