CS, The bolt holes are the same through 79, but most by then were power and not manual gears.

Are you wanting to stay with manual or go to power?

FYI
Manual box 65 to 68 are the same and 69 to 79 are the same bolt pattern but longer in the steering output
PS box to 68 is a weak bendix but shorter than a later PS box.
PS Box for either the 1/2ton or 3/4 ton is the same unit 69 to 79 in a 2 wheel drive application.

the 69 to 79 box is a John says a direct bolt on to a 65 up 2 wheel drive chassis.

A later (up to '79) box will work fine. All you need to do is notch the upper spring pas where the box hits, about 1" square. I've done several. You'll need a different column as well

cs65, Give us a little more imput. You first ask how far will they awap out, then state that is armstrong.

What are you wanting to do, go to power steering or stay with armstrong?

qtrmiler, Are you refering to 2wd or 4wd?

1965 & 1966 2WD with the spring mount trimmed can use a gear up to '79. You'd be suprised how much will interchange. I did a swap for a guy a few weeks ago & used the I-beams from a '86 on a '66. Rotors are the same to about 1995, stuck some old ones from my '94 on a '66 with '71 spindles...

qtrmiler, What spring mount are you refering to??
On the 2wd trucks with FE installed the back of the gear hits the engine perch. We recomend swapping the perch rather than cutting, although a lot of them are notched.

Dummy me, I was on the other end of the truck.

Place photos in your gallery and we can go take a look. You shouldn't have to notch anything to install springs.
