Question 2005 Explorer Keyless Entry Code

Hello,

I am new to this group. It looks like it has an abundance of excellent information about Ford Trucks.

Here is my problem - I just bought a used 2005 Explorer with keyless entry, but I don't have the factory code for the keypad to use it. From the research I have done so far, I think the factory code will be on the computer module. I just haven't located the module yet.

Has anyone figured this one out on a 2005?

Thanks for any all help!!

Look inside where the jack is kept...the driver side rear corner.

Thanks for your suggestion. The jack in my 2005 however is located in the center of the truck directly behind the third seat under a little access panel.

I did look in the driver's side rear corner and even pulled out the little storage bin in that area, but did not find the module there.

I am still looking and appreciate the help!

From 2003 and up, I don't think that it's on the module any longer. A dealership and a few high end locksmiths can read it from the computer with a special reader. It was originally on a card, about the size and make up of a credit card, in the owners manual. Look carefully in the owners manual for a card with a series of 5 numbers on it.

Lightbulb 05 keyless entry code

Hey boltsheriff,

I just bought an 05 Sport Trac and the code was in with the owner's manual. There is a card, about the size of a credit card, that has the code printed on it.

Hope this helps

Ditto here. The dealer that delivered my (2005 Explorer) vehicle actually handed me the card and explained the system to me. I promptly added a second unlock code (it told me how in the manual) that I wouldn't forget.

Either the card is still in your mound of "stuff" that came with the car, OR, the delivering dealer may have removed it and forgot to give it to you. If you can't find the card, give the dealer a shout.

I have a 2002 Mountaineer and found the code from following the instructions in this link https://www.ford-trucks.com/lc/lc.ph...24ffc038e0d1e1 I also know that there were cards with the code when new and of course I did not get them. I would bet that if this door module is not in the same location where ever you find it it should have the code on it. Good luck!!

On an 05, you need a scanner to read the code if you dont have the one on the little credit card available.
