If anyone is planning on buying a gauge kit from Diesel Manor, check the size of the thermocouple. I read the directions several times online and also read the directions that come with the kit. I started by preparing the pod etc.. I then drilled for the thermocouple install. I had already bought the 1/4 NPT tap and 7/16 bit. When I took the thermocouple out of the box, I saw a strip of paper saying to ignore the directions and use a 1/8" NPT tap! They are including a different thermocouple with the kit now! Well, I abandoned my install and bought a plug for the hole the next day. I contacted Diesel Manor today and they are sending me a different sleeve so thermocouple will fit. No real big deal, but watch out if you get one of these kits. Guess I should have pulled everything out of the box so I would have seen the note in the box, but like to leave as much in the box until I need it so I don't lose parts.
yeah, i learned a long time ago, to look over the stuff and read instructions carefully before cutting or drilling anything. i know the feeling is hard with these powerstrokes, you just want to open the box and put it on ASAP. however, my exhaust probe used a 1/8 NPT tapered pipe tap. the cast iron manifold DESTROYED the tap, but the thing still cut perfect threads....

I read directions carefully, several times. Thought this would be the easiest install ever, should have been able to do it in my sleep! Just didn't see the small slip of paper in the thermocouple box.
On the bright side, I received my Diablo Predator tuner today! I had to install a tune and check it out. Since my gauges aren't in, I took it very easy. Went around the block and it sure feels good. Can't wait to get the gauges installed and put my foot in it a bit!
