Top two transmission bolts removal

Howdy, i have a 1994 ranger with 2.3Litre motor, and manual transmission. i have everything loose, out, or otherwise ready to drop the trans out. Except the top two trans mounting bolts at the top right, and left, upper. outside corners. Man is it tight in there! Whats your trick, method or ideas to get to these puppies? Thats wht i saved these til last Ha!! Also, without a transmission jack, how do you, support and lower the trans, without it falling on you, and how to balance it on way out, again so it dont fall on you? Thanks to all who can help with some info. I was thinking dynomite myself!!!!
Thank you everyone.

I changed out the clutch in a Mazda years back and had to use all my extentions plus some borrowed ones to reach those bolts from behind the transmission. I used a small floor jack with some 2x4 spacers to bring it down. Good luck.

I just had my tranny out on my 03 and I tried the extention idea but i foung better luck with a small ratchet and socket while reaching my arm up there. I had the truck up on jackstands which helped big time. patience is the key.

Put a jack under the transmission crossmember, remove the bolts holding the crossmember in place and let the tail end of the transmission down until you can get a clear shot at the two upper bolts. Loosen them up, but don't remove them immediately. Put a piece of wood or other support where the jack is, reposition the jack to lower the transmission. Then remove the two bolts and lower the transmission out of the truck.

You should be able to remove the transmission from the truck in about half an hour with the truck on ramps or jackstands.

another way to do it is to strattle the engine and reach it that way, using a wrenc to break loos then a rachet to back em out by reaching between the fire wall and engine from the top, im a large fellow and this is how i find it easiest.

Thanks to all who posted on tranny upper bolt removal. The trans. is now OUT! i used Bart99GT idea to lower angle of tans. and hank857113 idea of LONG extension, (2ft) from autozone. i could not use el conquistador, only because my arms are really short, and wide like popeye's i get jammed up real easy. Thanks to EVERYONE, i dont even want to think about what the garage would of wanted to do this one. Later men.

those top two tyranny bolts are something else ain't they lol..I was able to get my skinny arms up in there somehow from the bottom and I think I broke them free with a stubby wrench first then got a micro wratchet up in there on them. I know I was doing some cussing the whole time bc they are a giant pain in the ***
