appearent error in predator tuner on screen instruction
Just a little update, and warning. I had started a thread a while back on having a problem with my diablo predator, and not bieng able to get it to take the stock tune back or take a different tune. I also saw someone else with the same problem a week ago or so.
Any case I called diablo sport today, and got them to help me reset it and get the stock tune back, so I was able to redo what I had in it, and use the tuner again, and during the process of using the force option, and putting int he password, when it was all done installing the tune the predator told me to unplug the tuner, and when i hit continue it told me once again to unplug the tuner, and that was all it said. Well the tech guy told me it should have told me to turn off the ignition which it never does, and so I probably never did. That is probably the same reason others have had this same trouble, the tech guy told me that unplugging it without turning off the ignition will cause it to lock up like that. So if you buy one or have one with the latest revision and it says to unplug it be sure to turn off the ignition first, appearently someone in writing the newest revision for the 7.3 forgot that screen and they will be looking into it now.
BTW thanks to all the guys that helped me on the first thread, and yeah I am liking this thing now that i can work it again.
Thanks for the heads up.
FWIW, I've gone through several tunes, restoring to stock, and putting a tune back in a few times and never had any trouble as you describe. I'm running the latest version downloaded from thier website. My Predator is less than two months old and the version on the website seems to be different than the one that it came with.
I've taken my truck to 60 HP tune back to stock, to tow tune and back again to stock when taking my truck back to the dealer for repairs. Last thing I did is to pull out the plug when the tuner told me to. I have not had any issues with the predator yet. I have the latest load on my Predator)
I never get the turn off the ignition prompt on my Diablo either.havent had any trouble with mine yet And i too have swapped several tunes and went back to stock a few times and never turned the key off before i unplugged it. My old SCMT said to turn the key off before unplugging.
My Predator is only about 3 or 4 weeks old,When i first got it according to their website i had the latest version. Seems my truck runs its best on the 60hp economy tune, any of the other tunes and I get a lope and sometimes about a 2 second delay on acceleration, Maybe I need an update..?
Thanks for the heads up.

Hey Kwikk, you said you got the latest version. Is that just for your 550 or would there be a download for my '99 as well? Last time I checked there were some for later models.

According to Diablosports website there is only one version for all of the 7.3's from F-250 to 550. Version: ford_7_3-7r19dZ.crom
For those interested in doing this upgrade, read carefully the instructions on thier web page. One of the steps that must be taken before you update the Predator is to restore the truck to stock, which resets the tool. Then update.
