Thanks for the tip 3_of_7, and welcome to the PREMIER ford truck web site, even though this thread has nothing to do with Ford trucks.

I am not talking about spyware and the like, either. Netmeeting, movie maker, and on and on and on.

I am buying a tower that uses Linux as soon as I can. Uses less space on the hard drive AND I don't have to buy suites.

Windows-installed systems are twice the price what a Linux system runs, all other things being equal. I am not in the biz of paying the Microsoft tax.
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAH,
When you go to buy a Linux system, your choices are really limited, to a couple of versions (biggest one being one that charges a subscription/Linspire) or Xandros. If you happen to find a HP or a Dell with Suse, or Fedora on it, you'll pay more for it, then the same machine with Windows, so you still pay the tax.
I build my own Linux machines, and I think I end up with a better product most of the time (early adopter of some failed technologies).
I am not saying those Wallyworld $300.00 boxes aren't ok, just not what I want, for anything other then a file server. But they'd be a learning experience.

Update: I used the nlite software to slipstream the SP2 update onto a burned copy of the Windows XP software and it worked wonderfully. Thanks, 3_of_7 for the link. A suggestion though: I couldn't find the file on the SP2 download that would allow me to copy the disk. I would order the Microsoft disc(it is free) and is easier to incorporate into the SP1 upgrade to SP2. I did use the burned copy to reinstall the windows software with the SP2 upgrade with no problems.

i installed sp2 on my laptop the system slowed down so much with a 4gb harddrive i installed a 20gb hard drive its a little faster but it still draines the battery faster than xp sp1 and my main file server i noticed all my games and some software will not run on sp2 but they ran on sp1 there are no fixes for this because the games are 6yrs old and the cd burning software came with the drives is out dated and the company wants me to buy all new software for 70bucks so i think sp2 riped me off with sp3 release how much more money will i spent to keep my system up to date
