I have WinME and I can't stand it. Had a major computer problem last night and today. Took a lot of time on the phone with the techs to get it fixed.
I've heard good stuff about WinXP. Anyone use it? I've been told that since I have WinME I only have to get the WinXP upgrade to install it on my computer. Is this right? If so, is it complicated to get XP installed?
XP is slightly more complicated to install. Not too bad. It is much more stable. It was a big improvement over windows 2000 as far as speed goes. I like both ME and XP actually. XP seems to keep the bugs out a little better.
XP for me also. I had ME and had so many problems that MicroSoft sent me a W98SE CD and told me to throw away ME. I had major hardware interrupt problems with 2000. XP has given me zero problems, but then I don't use IE or Outlook for email. I use Mozilla and Eudora instead.
XP is the first decent MS op system since W3.11
There are several recent threads here about XP and operating systems.
XP is good but I hate the ULTRA dummy-proofing MS has put on it, 98SE is still my favorite and if you want to upgrade from ME, just switch over to Win 3.1 or toss your cpu off a cliff....
yes but if you buy a hard drive most sellers will sell you an OEM full version for less than the upgrade price. You don't get the retail box but you get the software.
I run XP pro and love it, added office XP for the business and have had no downtime due to errors or problems. Just remember to keep it updated and things will stay smooth.
Of course XP Pro is good, so is any Pro application. The problem with running any "Pro" software is that it is either insanely expensive or an illegal copy....
