i just got a 86 ranger short bed 4x4 STX,2.9,5 SPD. WHEN I PUT IT IN 4WD IT MAKES A LOUD BANG SOMETIMES ? MABY THE AUTO HUBS? CAN YOU CHANGE THAM TO MANUEL HUBS? DOES ANY ONE KNOW WHAT THE SXT PACKEGE IS? THANKS
the stx is a trim package and a suspension package (shocks, springs, and sway-bar combination that only came on the stx unless you ordered it) though dont quote me on this
Or you can pull the auto hub off and dig out all the old grease and add new grease and you might get lucky and it will work fine.
The STX Package was made to compete with the Chevy S10 Baja, to have a sport Ford Ranger, you got Better Shocks, springs Etc, like mentioned already and then the Graphics on the Side. Also you could get a Factory Brush Guard, Roll Bar With Lights and a rear Tube Bumper. In 88 they Also Made STX High Rider that had a 1.5" factory Lift installed only avaible in the Standard Cab Ranger though.
also the STX Package was made to compete with the Chevy S10 Baja, to offer a ford ranger Sport Model, you got the better Shocks, Springs, Etc already mentioned, and had the options of a factory Brush Guard and Roll Bar with lights if you wanted. also a 2 tube's style rear bumper. and the Graphics on the side. In 88 the Ford also made a High Rider STX Option on the regular Cab rangers that had a factory 1.5" lift installed
hope this helps you out, also you might get away with just taking the auto hubs off removing all the old grease and adding new grease might also solve your problem.
