O.K,I got a new set of Flow tech long headers for my 87 F250,351,FI,auto,4x4 and haven spent the weekend removing stuff to try and stuff them in to the small space there((Susposed)) to go in????
Im ready to sell it as it is!!!!
So far I have it jacked up,removed the front drive shaft, fuel pump cover, the rest of the muffler system and all the stuff that it was attached to ect...because the flanges were in the way,and plugs.
All thats left it my tranny linkage??
It still dosnt look like its going to fit,the instructions didnt say anything about the motor needing to be loosend and lifted,it says to put them in from the bottom but if I moved the air conditioner and steering pump I might can get them in from the top that way?
Im so disgusted I cant even think straight lol!!!!
Any ideas out there would be very appriciated!!

I looked around and couldnt find a home page for Flow tech?
Maybe I didnt look enough but it always came back to them being for sale through another company?
I took the tub out and I did finally get the right side on It was hell though,I had to carefully bend the brake lines out of the way and remove the fuel filter and move more tranny likage ect..over.
It is such a tight fit,I still have to bend the heat shield some more so it clears the header more.
The left side should be a lot easier I think, with it raised and if I take the alternator and vacum canister off I should be able to squeeze it in from the top?
Anyway, this has been a adventure to say the least!!!!!

What a mess!!!!
Turns out after I got the right side on I started looking at getting the left side on and realized the flange on the right side was rubbing against the tranny fluid pan?
Thanks for the info 1997!!!!!!I called and they told me that they do still have the Shorty for my truck!!!
I called the shop I bought them at and they are going to take the long ones back and get me the Shortys (there $80.00 more but who cares, they will bolt on to my current exhaust system)Then I wont have any more problems????? LOL
I remember when I did headers on my first truck, it was a '76 2-wheeler and it was a BIT@#! I bet with all the extra emissions crap on them nowadays it 's all that much more of a pain. It didn't help that the first set I recieved was for a '80-96 4x4 and spend 3 days trying to get them to work before I realized I had the wrong ones. Even with the right set it was difficult. I want to put some on my current rig ('94 150), I think I have gained alot more knowledge since then, hopefully it won't be as difficult. It looks like a fairly clear shot to both of them, but looks can be decieving.
No problem Russell glad it work out for you.Long tube headers can be a pain in the ***.I went with a set of FMS shorties for my truck and they fit perfectly. The only issuse I have is that one AIR injection pipe will not bolt to the back of the intake , it is to tall. And that is not a big deal , because whence the fitting is tight it is not moving.
These have to be one of the easiest headers installs I have ever done , granted they are shorties. If you want a set to drive yourself crazy , try installing a set on 93-02 Camaro/Firebird.
Just a update,
Finally got the shorty's today, just in time for the first snow storm of the season with my truck on stands in the yard :0(
In spent most the day getting the headers on and getting it ready to drive into my garage tomorrow to put the fender wells, running board back on ect...after taking so much apart to get the long headers on it sucked putting the important stuff back with it snowing/hailing on me as worked!
Tonight my yard is a big ice skateing rink,a solid sheet of ice and it's still snowing lol,
Thank God I got the headers when I did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
