Distributor Install

I am installing a new distributor into a new 300 I boguht for my '73. How do I get the oil pump drive shaft out the old dist. and into the new? When I install the distributor do I want the #1 Cylinder TPDC on the compression stroke and the rotor to point to cylinder 1?

the oil pump drive shaft should not be stuck in there to bad it should just pull out.

to reinstall the dizzy. you need to find tdc on the compression stroke then just pick a spot on the cap and use it as number 1 then set your firing order, make sure the rotor is pointing dead on at the spot you picked. then adjust the timing once you start it.
