Im in the process of converting my 86 300 to duraspark 2. Ive gathered all the parts I need and I just instaled the distributor and the truck will not start.
I put the #1 cylinder at what I believe was top dead center on the compression stroke and the rotor was at 5 o clock. So, I installed the new distributor with the rotor at the same position and I cant even start it to time it.
I havent put the new carb on yet. I wanted to at least get the truck somewhat in time before I did the carb. What did I do wrong? Any help is appreciated.
1st check to see if you do have spark. It doesn't matter where the engine is, as long as you checked where the old dist was, pull it, don't move the engine, and put the new dist in so it's exactly like the old one, without moving the engine.
If the engine was moved or you missed one of the points above, you will have to start over. Check for spark 1st though.
It appears I dont have spark at the plugs and cant find any voltage across my coil. I believe my harness is missing a plug so I am gonna find another one and try again
