Autozone's website shows the correct Beru/Motorcraft plug for your truck to be ZD1A. I don't know if there's a way to convert your ZD9's, but if there is this forum will know how.
Thanks Dave.is That System The Upgrade For The Existing 6.9 System.my Controller Went Out So I Converted Mine To Manual Per Your Instructions.works Great.my Harness Is Fine Except For The Female Spade Clips Are Kinda Worn.
Yes it is the upgraded system and it will work on the older 6.9's.
But the wiring harness (175.00 at Ford) must be changed on the engine to install it.
Then the wiring harness does not plug into the truck harness, but that is kinda easy to fix.
Also the relay and solid state controller (165.00 at Ford) if you want to make it automatic again.
Then you need to change to the new style glow plugs. (80.00 at AutoZone)
That makes for an expensive changeover.
When I installed the 94 turbo motor in my truck I changed the wiring harness to the 94 version, installed the new style plugs, and wired it to the old relay with manual control. Best of both worlds that way. After 300K on my old engine the wiring harness on the engine was about shot, the connectors were all worn out and the plastic shells on them were all crumbled to dust.
You can replace the female spades with crimp on terminals, but I would solder them instead of just crimping them.
