This is a 1973 Highboy that my son and I have been resurrecting from the dead. It is now just back to drivable, but the T-case is swinging forward and back, knocking against a cross member. My question is this...
Is this simply a matter of replacing the bushings and retorqueing and rewiring the top castle nuts, or is there another bracket (that doesn't seem to exist on this truck) that controls for and aft movement?
some trucks were equipped with a support rod that was attached at the bottom of the t case and the truck frame cross member, but not all divorced cases had them.(mine does not have it) i would try to tighten the mounting bolts ,and if that doesnt fix it,then replace the bushings, and then tighten it all back up.the lack of a support brace shouldnt matter.as i said, they didnt all come with them,so its up to you if you want to add it or not.ive never had one and i dont see the need to put one on my truck.-billy
Thanks, I saw the support rod in the factory manual, but there is a gas tank in the way. Glad to hear that it is unneccessary. I'll get a couple of bushings and torque it down. Glad to hear that it will work just fine.
